Im a newbie to crested geckos and would like some advise from some expeirenced people.

Hello every one i have become very interested in crested geckos over the past few weeks. I think that they are awesome looking and they arent all that hard to care for, am i right or not? I am looking to get some about three months from now. Does anybody know of any reputable breeders that have gould healthy crested geckos, IF SO PLEASE POST. I would like to know how big the incloser has to be for 2 or 3 of them? How many plants should I put in there for them? Are the Jungle Vines that Pet Warehouse gould for them. How hard are the babys to care for ( i think i will get them as babys so i can watch them grow)? Waht kind of substrate should i use? If i make an encloser for them out of would trim and and screen would that be o.k.? What do you feed them and how often. If i want to breed them later on down the road how hard is it, and how hard is it to sell the babyes? What size and age should they be before they are breed? How old and how big should the babys be before they are sold.

I already have 3.3 bearded dragons and 1.3 leopard geckos. and i take very good care of my animals. And want my crested to be cared for the same way. ANY POST ARE APPREICIATED Thankyou Lizardboy696969

Congratulations on your entering the world of cresties I just recently did so myself - I have three baby chocolate fire morphs. They truly are great critters!

~ To start, when you get the babies you should put them in seperate kritter keepers (mine are in the extra-large size). Put in a plant, a shallow water bowl and something to climb on. I wouldn't put any substrate in there - that way the crickets can't hide. Plus young cresties are pretty clumbsy eaters and they can get impaction if they get a mouth full of substrate instead of a cricket.

~ You can make an enclosure of wood and screen but it would be hard to keep the screen clean and would be hard to keep the humidity at an acceptable level. I would recommend a glass enclosure with a screen top. I also know some people have had success with the tall rubbermaid tubs.

~ To keep two or three together (1 male/1 female or 1 male/2 females) I would put them in at least at 29 high gallon tank or larger.

~ As for the plants, any live plant that has broad leaves will work. The jungle vines work well too. I have a jungle vine and wrapped one of the 6 ft long plant vines around it and they love it!

~ The babies are relatively easy to take care of. Make sure they get a lot of protien (helps them grow) through crickets dusted with a calcium/vitamin dust (I use Miner-All Indoor). You can also supplement with baby food (make sure it is not citrus). There is a product called Crested Gecko Diet (CGD), by T-Rex & Sandfire Super Foods, that you can try as well. Make sure the temps don't go above about 82 in the day and give them about a 5 degree drop in temp at night. Usually room temp works well. Keep the humidity at about 70-75%. Don't let it get too dry or they will have problems shedding. Mist the enclosure twice a day - cresties drink from the water beads.

I can't offer any advice about breeding ... haven't reached that stage yet , but i know there are a lot of respectable people on this forum that can offer you adivce in that area! Hope the rest of the information helped, and if you need any more help let me know!

You could definately put a waterfall and a drip line in their adult home. It would work great to increase the humidity. Just make sure the pool of water isn't so deep that they can't climb out of it or they could drown (not likely when they are adults, but you can never be too careful ).
