I've had my Nigerian Yellow (geyri) uromastyx for about a month and a half and things have been going great...but tonight and yesterday night i saw Saba do something i've never seen him do before. his eye is closed and begins to buuuulge out and than he'll open it and this red muscley membrane will be over his eye and than itll go sideways behind his eye. i hope this is completely normal and i just havent noticed it before...but it really freaked me out!

Ummm... I really don't see how that could be normal. Sounds like an inffection.

I'd say a vet visit is definitly in order.

Uros do this like we do to clean off their eyes and lubricate them. They don't do it as often as you would think, but if you watch them long enough you will see it. It's perfectly normal. The reason the eye appeared to bulge was that it started to do it while it's eye was closed.
The first few times I saw it I thought it was licking it's eye like geckos do, and I'm still not sure they aren't doing exactly that. It sure looks like their tongue licking their eye.

i thought they also did it to help release the "snalt" ? it just seems to me that after they do that, snalt appears soon.

but i could be wrong

Freaked me out the first time I ever saw Bruce clean his eyes. The only thing that concerns me about your post is the description that it is red. I don't recall it looking red or irritated. It's been a while since I have seen it though, because as mentioned in another post, it is a rather infrequent happening.

Well it's more of a dark pink (the color of it's tongue.) Reminded me of my son's gecko that actually licks it's eye on the outside (long tongue I guess.) Since I have two uros and would bring them out to bask in the sun this summer I watched them enough to see this numerous times.
I hadn't noticed what Juene18 said though about the connection to salt excretion after it, though I may not have connected the two events.
