Now ya see, i've actually come to like the Garter Snake stink ~ Its weird, but it brings me back to the innocense of my childhood, I guess. Kind of like the Skunk smell too. Leo

I once took care of a WC cornsnake whose musk smelled of rotten Frito corn chips. Appropriate I thought, but the smell was nauseating. I helped a grad student with his cottonmouth research. Their musk was actually quite pleasant, unless it was able to flick its tail and fling a drop into your mouth!

I always found redbelly musk to be the worst...stinky snakes, especially for their size.
