This female is one of two that I have. My bad camera does not show the nice yellow colors. They are a little over 4 ft., hopefully this coming spring they will be ready to go.

scott, great specimens! do you happen to work with black pines at all? or know of anyone that does?

also, i love the substrate you have these guys on (at your website). was this just for the photo, or do you keep your snakes on this full time? and what is it?

thanks!

eric

Eric,
Thanks. I do not keep black pines and the substrate was just for the photos. I keep all my snakes on newspaper.

cool. thanks!

Wow! Great looking animal. Your camera shows off her colors just fine!

Hi Glenn

All is well on the western front here in CA. I wouldn't call my lineaticollis juveniles at this point, atleast by comparison to how much they've grown in the last 2 years. They have been fairly easy to work with and are great feeders. Here's a pic of my "huffin' n puffin'" female and my calm male. I'm also hoping to produce some hatchlings next year. Wish me luck. Take care.

Hi Diego,

That's exactly what I said when I first saw them in the Pituophis Issue of Reptile Magazine. I promised myself that I would get a pair when they become available. A couple of years later some were produced and I was fortunate to get a pair. Hope my animals produce their own babies for me next year. Cross your fingers. Thanks.

Jonel, how big would you say yours are now? Length? Girth? I just keep remembering that one pic of the founding animal and that thing was HUGE!

Hoping to breed mine in the next few years as well.

HI Jonel

Hey they are looking pretty sharp, nice and thick too.

jason

jonellopez Nov 03, 2006 01:26 AM

Hey Jason

Thanks. They do love their rats! But they pretty much take any rodents if I offer them. Love how one of your animals turned greenish. To bad that they didn't keep some of the red coloration. Mine had them when they were babies It would be nice to see some greenish animals with red blushings as adults. Good luck with your(and Gregg's) animals. Take care.

If lead paint is so deadly why do they make it so delicious?

simias Nov 02, 2006 01:35 PM

thought I would re-post a pic of a P.l. gibsoni I had the chance to play with in Guatemala last year, since you are all showing off lineaticollis pics.

jonellopez Nov 03, 2006 01:31 AM

Hi Simias

Nice! That's another on my list. Too bad they're aren't as available as the P.l.lineaticollis. Although, I've been told by someone that he has some leads and connections south of the border. So hopefully they would eventually become available in the future. If you have more pics, keep them coming. Esp. one that shows the dorsal side. Take care.

Gregg Feaster and I decided to go in a pair of the a couple years. For some reason one of ours is kind of greenish and he's pretty nippy. These guys have very good eye sight.

just a post-script to this thread - to my knowledge, all the animals pictured or mentioned here were produced by the same 2 females, and same male; hence all are sibs or half-sibs A statement about the limited supply of adults combined with how prolific they are. I expect within 5 years this P. l. lineaticollis will be more common in captivity than P. deppei.
