INTRODUCING: The Pastel "Crystal Ball"

Python Dreams Nov 01, 2006 12:45 AM

I have had some extremely good luck this year and it seems to have carried a little further...
The first year I bred Ball Pythons I produced a clutch from a Pastel male to the "Special" Mother... I had no idea of her true potential, but did notice that one Pastel female was considerably good looking and decided to keep her in hopes of a nice Super one day...
Fast forward a few years and a bit more knowledge about the mother and I decide to breed her to a Mojave... I also put her with a Pastel Mojave male but saw only courting, no breeding. She gave me 5 eggs and basically had me freaking out from day 1! I have no idea how I made it, but the last few days seemed like weeks and I could not take it anymore!
I cut the eggs and to my surprise I found a Crystal inside... I could not believe that I proved out the "Special Pastel" female! Going even further I noticed another Crystal! What amazing odds! Then upon further inspection I began to think they might be Pastel Crystals and once they came out it was confirmed! Out of 5 eggs I ended up with a Mojave, Pastel, Normal, and 2 Pastel Crystals... Unfrickenbelievable!!!!!!!
Let me know what you think,

I was actually thinking of taking some different gems and continuing with this theme... Especially since the first Super Pastels were referred to as Opals, I was thinking I could have something in between before the first Opal Crystal...
There are some cool purple-pinkish Amethysts, Sapphires, and Rubys... I almost went with Ruby Crystal, but then I thought sometimes the name game gets out of hand and Pastel Crystal kinda sums it up and leaves no room for confusion! Good idea though!

This industry needs gorgeous animals like that.

toshamc Nov 01, 2006 10:01 AM

Yep - I'm going to have to get me one of those!!!

Truly Stunning!!!

Please forward the number of the God you are currently praying to - cause he seems to deliver much quicker than mine.

Congrats!!!

Python Dreams Nov 01, 2006 11:28 AM

Thanks Tosha,
I am actually currently praying to Joe Pesci! Well because he seems like a guy that can get things done!
Anyone know where thats from?

toshamc Nov 01, 2006 11:36 AM

Seems like he has played a few characters that "Gets Things Done" - maybe Leo Getts - Lethal Weapon? LOL

Maybe you could call the Pastel Crystal a Pystal? LOL - or not.

They're gorgeous - will look forward to seeing them in person!!! I didn't think you could improve on perfection - but looks like you did!!!

Now going to light a few candles to the Pesci God of the Ball....

It actually had to do with a bit George Carlin does on religion... I thought I had it saved, but cannot find it... That part of his rant was basically that no matter what or who you pray to, that he has figured out that it will be answered by about 50%... So he chooses to pray to Joe Pesci since he is a guy that can get things done! LMAO

ginebig Nov 01, 2006 04:00 PM

LOL @ Tosha

Hey, whatever works, right?

Thanks for the compliments everyone! It has been very exciting to see the results of the Pastel in the Crystal... I was even a little worried that it would be barely noticable and now I cannot wait for the Super Pastel Crystal... It will also be very interesting to see how these color up into adults. Next logical step might be Pewter Crystals!

ginebig Nov 01, 2006 12:30 PM

I like Pewter

Congratulations Tom,
Those things look amazing. Make sure to post those grow up pics, as I think that they will mature nicely. What was the sex ratio on the Pastel Crystals. Hopefully you got a little boy.

Congrats Again,

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. It's nice you were able to take it to the next level.
Here's a picture I took of your crystal and paradox crystal you had at the Anaheim show. Great to meet you by the way.

Best of luck,
Justin

.....I ain't got no Crystal Ball.

Excuse the above song lyric....lol

Congrats on a truly beautiful addition to the loooonnnng list of Ball combo morphs.

I LOVE the purplish tones on the Pastel Crystal.

Are you 100% sure the Pastel Mojave male DIDN'T get the job done?
(Just wondering if there's any chance the Pastel Crystal might be a Super Pastel Crystal.)

Congrats again.
