Share your Lemon Pastel Adult pictures?

darkbloodwyvern Nov 01, 2006 01:30 AM

Looking for pictures or links to images of adult Lemon pastels, have found some on the interweb, but would like to see if anyone has pictures of their adults and baby pics of the same snakes. Interested in the morph, but I've read several different things on how lemons are supposed to stay fairly yellow as adults, but then someone else contradicts it on another site. I know it can depned on an individual, but i would like to know what generally seems to be true with this morph. Thanks!!!

Here are some pics from babies - yearlings - adults, they are all from my original male Lemon Pastel, that was purchased directly from Kevin at NERD. In my personal opinion they are the best, i do also own 4 other lines but the lemons are my favorite, after producing numerous offspring from a few different lines, and growing up different babies, I feel the lemon holds the most color...

wow!
nice pictures, and lovely snakes! ythanks so much for sharing. I really like Lemons, i am hoping to purchse one soon. The idea of them not losing as much color as other pastels really made me want one, aside from their babies being so shockingly bright!
thanks again! :D

But you can also expect animals to be worse. Pastels like most balls, get less vibrant as they age. Some will be nice and some won't...simple fact. I think that if you look at who is putting them down...maybe they got one that didn't stay bright. I have seen pastels from all of the 'named' animals that are both pretty and not so pretty. I have seen beautiful pastels that have had 'dogs' hatch and have seen brown pastels produce babies that have stayed electric...it all depends.

Lemons are probably the most vibrant of the pastels and they make unreal bumblebees and lemonblasts so you can't go wrong with them...

wow, great lemon and such a huge loooking spider! thanks for sharing! I am not too worried if I get one who fades out, it is just nice to try and beat the browning out by getting a lemon, so maybe the chances are less likely of it fading.
thanks! :D

I also have a male pastel that was from one of the other well known lines and it was one of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen! At 600 grams he is one of the dullest animals I have seen and really lost almost all of his yellow. It really varies as they grow and mature but they are all amazing animals!

yes, it is sad when they lose color, but even some of the browner pastels are still pretty nice compared to a generic normal. If i end up getting one, i will just get loads of good as accurate-as-possible pictures so that if he does brown out, I will have some good records of when he was a shocker!

imo This will be as common a practice as asking to see the homozygous parent(when buying hets)eventually.

This female was sold to me as a Lemon, but her exact line was called into question at one point so I'm not entirely sure what she was. Of course it doesn't show up in the pics very well, but she was a very nice in person. All snakes are individuals, and that includes their phenotypes. You can probably find pretty and 'ugly' examples from any line or any morph known.

From what Kevin has said, the Lemons are brighter yellow and have dark black markings instead of faded out black markings. I think if I was going to start off with a line, and liked the dark black vs. the fading of the Graziani line, I would go with a pick of the litter male Lemon. On the other hand, and kind of off topic, here is a picture of my Pastel cross and normal Pastel, both from the Bell line. The best looking Pastels seem to be crossed with something else.

Dave

The first pic is VPI, VPI and Sutherland line, going left to right, the second pic is my pair of Bell line Pastels, the last pic is a Bell line animal I hatched out this year and my Pastel cross, both from the same father.
