wooden rack ?

im just wondering why its ok that people use pine boards and pine plywood to build thier snake racks,but its unsafe to use pine shavings as bedding any insite on this would be appreciated thanks kyle

Pine shavings, if they are actually unsafe, have a much greater surface area than pine lumber of sheet goods so the potentially toxic compounds are not released in the same way. Also, pine shavings tend to have a lot of dust which can allow these compounds to be inhaled.

You'd be surprised at how toxic wood dust is. You can have a baby cradle made from wood that is safe, but the woodworker who created it may have been exposed to all kinds of nasty stuff due to the dust.
