Amazing how this guy never leaves her alone. Hes on her year round. Ive seen him locked up in every month of the year. Cross your fingers shell double clutch for me this year. Her first was in January so its possible. I keep thinking Im seeing her swell and sometimes slightly inverted. Who knows!!
I think she'll go. We'll see.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful animals--I'll send positive energy your way! Gave my pair the year off, but am waiting on a kenyan sandboa to drop any day now. Baby snakes are always wonderful!

You definately have a pretty snake. Good news. Ive aquired another pair from the same parents that produced my light female. Theyre babies from 06 but eventualy Ill breed the male back to the female and have a pure VPI bloodline to share.
As for now, I plan to breed one of the light baby males from the pairing above to continue producing light babies (or at least see what happens). It sure does look cool though when half the babies are dark like the dad and half are light like mom when theyre born.

Ill keep you all posted so youll know when my other clutches come. Then you can watch the classifieds.

ya know from what i see in your snakes i almost have to say that they have to be hypo !!!! i mean look at the color differance. i know this was discussed before and it will be proved or disproved but man look at the differance in the colors. i hope they do prove out to be hypo (genetically recessive) but no matter what the hypo color is always their.

I feel your hope. Just know that Im not making any statements about anything different. I have no problem with anyone discussing there opinions, I just want to make sure no rumors get started that anything has been proven. As far as Im concerned she is just a realy nice normal. I t doesnt mean I wouldnt be stoked if it were something different (which is why Im trying to prove it out) The color contrast in my recent clutch is impressive but keeep in mind that the father probably isnt a pure childrens. I realy dont know anything about him. Judging by his dark coloration I presume hes a mutt like many out there. As far as why there was such a nice division in color contrast between the babies......that remains a mystery too. It could be due to the father or mother.

The only thing Im concerend about is getting the male I just purchased to breeding size since he came from the same mother as my adult female so I can start producing babies that I can lable as pure VPI line. That will have a nicer ring to the adds.
Eventualy my goal is to raise some babies from the pure VPI bloodline to see if the color does fade like their mother.

This will be a long project. Hopefully in 5 or 6 years Ill have an exciting verdict. Either way theyre still sweet animals.

You have got to find a nicer lighter male to go with that girl! Shes awesome. And put me on the list for some babies.

That light feamle is rather stunning. Looks like I'm gonna have to start looking for a nice light male like that also. I too have a dark female. Did you raise that light female from a hatchling? If so what did her pattern look like then, and @ what age did it start lightening up?

yes I rasied her from a hatchling (with a little help from a buddy getting her to eat...thanks Ben)

She had pattern like most all Childrens babies do. It started to fade at about a year and a half I guess. I definately faded out by two years. We'll see how this project turns out. Itll be a few years before I can say wether its genetic and different or not. I finaly got a male recently from the same friend who owns the parents to my light adult female. It will be nice to start producing babies from a pure bloodline pairing.
