Hi everyone. My name's David and I'm pretty new here. This might actually be my first post in the snake forums...

Anywho, a little over a month ago I acquired a hatchling eastern yellow-bellied racer. At first he didn't want to eat but I finally was able to get him to take a cricket or two but that was it for most of October. I think since I was keeping him at room temp, around 70F, it was just too cool. Middle of last week I raised the temp in his enclosure to about 80 and he finally ate a day old pinkie mouse. Since Oct. 28th he's been eating one pinkie every two days. So, my questions are:

First, should I be feeding him this often? He seems to "process" the pinkies very fast, losing the lump from the prey within a day and defecating between each feeding.

Second, is the temperature okay? Should it be warmer? I've not been able to find anything online more specific than "keep them warm" so am looking for temps that those with more experience have found to be ideal.

Third, how often can I expect him to shed? I know it will depend on a lot of different factors; mainly just looking for rough estimates. I'm used to hatchlings that shed within a couple weeks to a month of having them so this little guy has kind of thrown me for a loop.

Thanks for any info. Here's a pic of the little cobra-wannabe.
