I was wondering if anyone has tried the esu super uv coil bulb and if so how good is it?Does it put off enough heat for a bearded dragon in a 20 gal tank? Thanks

esu's super coils only give off 3% uvb not nearly enough..it could be used in addition to a esu super uvb tube that also gives off 3% uvb..but it would just be cheaper to get a reptisun 5.0 tube and a household bulb for heat...

and i don't really know how much heat one of those gives off.. but when i thought about getting them for a water dragon cage i believe it was too long for a reflector dome.. they do best in a hood where the bulb is placed horizontally thus given off less direct heat..

hope that helps

but again it doesn't give off a lot of uvb

Thanks for the reply.I have a 5.0 bulb now but I was just thinking about getting one of the bulbs that puts off both heat and uvb.

in that case i would go for a mercury vapor bulbs.. but i would wait until you have a bigger cage becuase a lot of those bulbs give off too much heat for such a little cage

No not enough heat, and the uvb rays don't reach to far past the bulb. Best bet is to go with the repti-sun and have a basking spot the gets close to that bulb, and a regular bulb for heat.
