Mites from a Log?

dwphilli Nov 02, 2006 12:32 PM

I brought home a baby BP three weeks ago. He had no problems until this morning when I took him out of his cage, all of the sudden he has mites. He also shed for the first time since I have had him during the night as well. I bought a new half log for him from Petco yesterday as well. Is it possible for him to have mites for three weeks without actually being noticable or did they come from the log?

After work Im going to throw away his substrate and bleach the cage, but what should i do about the snake? Clean them off of him and put him back, or get some medicine?

Its my first time dealing w/ mites so I dont know how hard they are to get rid of, and keep them away.

Thanks

I forgot to mention this, but also after shedding he has a small white area on his back that wasnt there before, could he have rubbed some scales off?

Thanks,
Dustin
