Good online source for plastic tubs?

Djinn Nov 02, 2006 11:05 PM

Have any of you fine folks found a good place to buy bulk tubs online?
I'm building a baby rack, and need some 12 quart tubs.

Thanks!

Reptiletubs is pretty good. I bought some from him in Daytona but I know he has online orders also.

Nice tubs and they sell them by the case.

wow the container store didn't even say what kind they're selling. Maybe it's their own brand?

OK for huge tubs reptiletubs.com has the biggest I have found. (I bought a VE175 there which is humongous 52 7/8"L X 20 7/8"W X 14 1/16"H)

For smaller Sterilite tubs the best prices I found were at:
http://www.coastalbaycompany.com/category/bb/

For rubbermaid this place was cheap (but I went with Sterilite for now):
http://www.shoplet.com/office/db/RHP2220WHI.html

Took me about 45 minutes with a search engine to find the cheapest prices for the sizes I needed. No guarantee these are the cheapest today, or that they will be cheapest on te size you need. But, it doesn't take very long to look around.

Thanks Caden~ I've been searching all morning. Reptiletubs is a cool website, but their prices stink. I still haven't found an online source that beats Walmart after all costs are considered.

if you think reptiletubs.com prices stink, wait until you find out about thier shipping charges! It cost me more to ship the giant tub than it cost me to buy it!

Coastal Bay used to sell every size of Sterilite there is and any amount of them. Unfortunately lately they have been switching around. Some sizes seem now to only come in multiples. It's still a good deal though. I like to think this stuff is always changing, and I always hope to find cheaper tubs each time I need them somewhere, but I usually come back to coastal bay.

Lynn at boas and balls is selling Iris tubs through the KS classifieds. market.kingsnake.com/detail.php?cat=22&de=455157 I've bought the CB110's from her and they were the cheapest prices I could find anywhere, even with shipping. I wanted a rack that would have large floor area tubs and minimal height.

Nice racks!
Did you build them yourself?
That looks like the shelving material sold at Home Depot, am I right?
This is my first rack, and I'm having a hard time deciding how many tubs to use, I'd obviously like to have more than I need instead of less. Having to double up babies would suck.

Thanks, yes I did make them myself, out of the HD sheet goods and edge banding. I've n]made several racks over the years and more tubs is always better. One feature I try to incorporate is individual heat tape runs. That way I can power only what I need to and if need be, I can have different sections at different temps. My creations:

My first racks, sterilite 1754's and HD pre edged shelving.

The CB110's you already saw.

And a combination workbench/hatchling rack. This baby is stunning!!

Really nice work! The rack/work bench is genious.
I notice you are using the Reflectix (sp?)
How well does that work, as far as holding heat?
All of my Boas are in my basement, so I plan on covering the back and sides with either the Reflectix or the pink Polystyrene.
Which do you think would work better?
I think someone told me that the Reflectix has a higher R rating? I don't know..

Thank you, I am quite proud of that one. I am more using the reflectix to project the heat toward the front as my snake room is nice and toasty.
