Ophiophagus hannah- King Cobra

Realised that I never posted this picture here. I know that there are quite a few people that love these snakes on this forum.

This picture was taken at night in the conduct of a herpetological survey of Khao Phanom Benja Wildlife Sanctuary in Krabi Province, Thailand. This specimen is ca. 2 metres long and a series of pictures were taken over a period of almost 5 minutes. This picture was taken by leaning over and using the tree for balance. During this time, it appeared confused, moved about, but never hissed, hooded or showed any other aggressive or defensive behaviour.

This area is off limits to the public at night time and even the survey party had to be escorted by the park staff.

Thanks Michael! That's a great shot and a cool story behind it; what a unique and amazing experience that must have been.

Sorry, I got my locations mixed up. The Ophiophagus hannah was photographed at Khao Phra Bangkram Wildlife Sanctuary. Khao Phanom Benja is a National Park in which there was also a survey conducted.
