Indoor EnclosureTemps?

easternlvrs10 Nov 04, 2006 01:49 PM

This winter I have too keep my 2 five year old box turtles indoors as I just relocated and do not have time to get them set up outside.

I have 2 4x4 enclosures built housing 1 turtle a piece. They have about 4 inches of soil and spahgnum moss, live plants and the daytime temp runs about 72- 90 degrees, with a night temp running approx 62 - 65 degrees. ARE THESE TEMPS OK???

Thanks
Melinda

It might be better for the turtle's appetites if the nighttime temperatures stayed above 65F: it might take them a while to warm up enough to want to eat.

Here's what I would aim for: the 'cool' end of the habitat 75F, the 'warm' end 85F, and a nighttime temperature drop of no more than ten degrees overall. It wouldn't have to be exact, and you're pretty close already.
