Escaping Kings

drapert Nov 05, 2006 10:11 AM

I put my female king in a bag to eat her fuzzie (she didn't), then went to get pizza.

When I got home, my husband told me that my cat ate my snake! I was upset (understandably), and asked him why he didn't catch the snake, and how'd it escape anyway!?

I looked all over the house for pieces of snake...but found nothing, so asked if the snake was actually EATEN, to which he said "I don't know."

So, I started to look UNDER things. I finally found her under a rug by the sliding glass door. I put her back into the bag to fed, and of course, she's not the slightest bit interested, but she escaped from the bag again. I only knew because the cat meowed strangely. This time, she didn't make it under the rug, but was still under the chair.

I caught her, and put her back into her enclosure. I'm sure she'd had enough excitement for one night. She's safe for now thank goodness, and doesn't seem any the worse for wear, though she's not come out of her hide yet today. I'll check on her momentarily to make certain she's not "bent" at funny angles, but I thought that I would relay the 2 places that I found my snake, so that other's could benefit.

You got lucky 2 times!!

Next time you feed you may want to think about putting the bag back into your snakes tank and locking it so if the snake escapes it will be loced into it's tank...

good luck..

Why bother feeding the snake outside of it's enclosure, anyway?

Just throw the pinky/fuzzie into a small dish or something, and leave it inside the enclosure for the little guy where he can't escape...

Todd,
what kind of snake is that?

A very large w.c. L.t. annulata going into shed. She isn't the prettiest animal in the shed but she is the real deal.
