Sorry for the wait, for some . . .
Yes, this was posted a while ago and was deleted by the moderators, because a mention was made to someone's web site. . . .
Here's what happened this year: I bred the biggest male baby from last year's clutch to its' mother. He was not very big, (just under two feet), so he was only able to fertilize 4 out of 16 eggs that the mother laid. Out of those four eggs, 2 came out looking normal, with orange and red, and 2 came out with NO RED or ORANGE! So I am pretty excited to know that I have what appears to be 2 baby golden corns so far. They are gray with light brownish blotches and just a tiny bit of yellow on them. I still havn't seen them in person myself yet, since I've been overseas since they hatched, (but I've seen some nice pics of them that a friend of mine took when he visited my house this past August).
Unfortunately out of last years' babies (12), only 4 are females, so I will probably have some golden corns next year, but not too many. But it is great to know that this IS a genetic trait that seems to have proved out finally!
I will post some NEW pics of those two little ones AND at least one of their siblings (for comparison) as soon as my wife takes more pics of them. Hopefully I can have her do this for me in the next few days. She's very busy and also works long hours like me over here! My two sons DO take great care of my snakes, for me, but they have NO camera skills!
And it doesn't help that my wife always tells me she hates taking snake pics, because they won't sit still for her . . . Thanks for understanding AND your patience,
Zee
