smallest hatchling

xblackheart Nov 05, 2006 01:58 PM

Check out this little guy. It was one of my last hatchlings this year. Part of it's egg was solid, and I thought the egg was bad, but this little guy proved me wrong. I think because part of the egg had become solid, this little one did not have that much room to grow. Look how tiny he is. I put the pen for size.

oh, and this little one is only 3/4 corn. Its mom was a jungle corn (50% corn/50% king, dad was a snow corn 100%)

A cutie. One of my hatchling this year came out of an egg about half the size of the others. When I went to feed him, I picked out the tiniest pink in the bag, but when he grabbed it I thought, "Oh crap! That's WAY too big! If he doesn't choke on it he'll puke it back up for sure." (I know, maybe I should have cut a pinky up for him.) Well, he took it down & hasn't stopped eating since. He's one of my best eaters, always coming out to see if I will feed him. Aren't they great? :D

At the very bottom of my post, right before my signature, it says what this snake is.
It is 3/4 corn snake 1/4 king
It's mother was a jungle corn (50% corn/50% king), father was 100% corn - a snow to be precise. I got such variation in the 4 hatchlings that I got out of this pairing. One looks just like a corn, but has ver pink back colors, another looks like an albino corn (reverse okeetee), this guy who kinda shows weird markings, and one that looks a lot like a king, but has a yellow/gold background.
Here are a few pics of his siblings. I think I posted them before.

Mother getting ready to shed

the golden king (...looking jungle corn)

The pink corn (..looking jungle corn) picture taken within minutes of hatching

The reverse okeetee looking jungle corn...taken today

the "little one" and two of it's siblings

And you have seen the "little one" by itself in the other post

Is a jungle corn that is 3/4 corn and only 1/4 king still considered a Jungle corn? I have no intentions of selling them, and if I did, I would make sure the person know they were hybrids. But I was just wondering if that specific title "jungle corn" still applies.
