female veild question?

ORLANDO377 Nov 05, 2006 04:52 PM

ok i have a female veild and well i think shes 9 months old maybe ten not sure but since i got her i have only seen her shed once and i got her when she was three months old and since i have stoped reserching on my animals for a while i dint get too far with my chameleon as i did with my dragons and snakes.
so i wana noe how often do they shed their skin and in female chameleons does the thing on their head matter how big it is because i have seen a smaller female chameleon in a pet store but she had a biger trunk or what ever you call the things on their heads. also how big do female chameleons get

The frequency of shedding in young chameleons depends on the rate of growth for the most part. Since your female is approaching full growth, the shedding will be slowing down. Even when full grown they will shed once or twice a year though.

The casque (the thing on their heads) in veileds can vary a little from female to female. Are you sure it wasn't a male you saw in the store?

You asked..."also how big do female chameleons get"...it can vary quite a bit depending on the genetic background, rate of feeding, and maybe even on how many generations of your chameleon's line/family were bred in captivity.
