When to Give Up on Eggs?

Jeckel Nov 05, 2006 09:24 PM

I gave two crestie eggs to a friend. The eggs were laid on 7/24, so they've been incubating for well over 3 months. The eggs look normal, but this seems like a long time to wait for them to hatch. They've been kept at room temperature; don't know the specifics but I assume the house was not terribly cool during August and September at least. How long should my friend wait for the eggs to hatch normally before he risks opening one up?

How low is the room temp at their house? The lower the temp, the longer they will take to hatch.

When the eggs start to smell rotten, collapse and turn into balls of mold or hatch.
