Dead babies????

python36 Nov 05, 2006 09:31 PM

Hello,
I had 12 eggs all together in my incubator and 4 have hatched perfectly so far, but my latest pair slit the eggs and then did not make it out? Is there any reason for this? It was this females first set of eggs ever.

Babies may not have been strong enough to emerge from the egg after slitting it. Why they didn't have the strength, could be genetic, not enough nutrients in the yolk, something may have attacked the baby inside the egg (some carrion beetles are bad for this), the egg itself might have been thicker or tougher than usual. The possibilities are nearly endless.
