Eastern pair's first mating

steve fuller Nov 05, 2006 09:51 PM

All of my adult male indigos have stopped feeding. I put Skink, hatched 6/04, and Sister Fingers, hatched 6/03, together this afternoon while cleaning cages. They immediately assumed the position. I left the lights off after cage chores were done. When I checked on them about nine hours later tonight they were hooked up. Odor of mating was apparent. This is the first time for both snakes. Skink is just six ft. and slender. Sister Fingers is about 5 1/2 ft. and heavier bodied.

Sorry, in advance, for your loss. With all due respect, she's too small. I hope you don't loose her to egg binding. Good luck with that. Keep us posted.

Perhaps you could share a little info on breeding Indigo's. I have a pair that have never been bred before...they have never even seen another snake. I want to put them together...do they require a cooling period? They are very close in size with the female being a little heavier than the male. I have bred lots of kings, corns and boas, but never tried the Indigo...any cautions.

I appreciate your time and knowledge.

Ron
