Slimey Monday Pics...from Saturday : - )

rainbowsrus Nov 06, 2006 04:29 AM

Have a few pics from this Saturdays litter to share:

First up is a pic of how I found her, with her last baby still half in / half out. Her tail in the air and resting before the final push. I think she was exhausted.

Second and third are pics of the entire lot with mom checking them over. Was amazing how she was nosing through them so gently. The whole time keeping her body off the baby pile. Look how deflated she is mostly accross the top of the pic. You can see the folds and concave areas where she lost so much this morning. In a short period of time, she lost a third of her weight.

Last up, I see a bullseye in there

Awesome pics! Love that anery and those bullseyes from Will!

BaskingRock Nov 06, 2006 08:49 AM

Some bullseyes and some solid black crescents in some of those slime balls!

I was looking through them late last night and found several with blacked out side patterns. I held back the only one of those from last year SA-PO-01 "Amber" and she is stunning. Definately a litter to let shed out before doing anything with. I expect several will be individually priced and will probably hold back some.

Amber today and some other pics of her:

today (OK, actually Friday Nov 3rd)

Right after birth when I pulled her out of the slime pile I knew she was something different.

Amber is awesome! Hope I'm high enough on the waiting list to grab one LOL!!!!

couldn't resist

Thanks and trust me, pics do not do her justice. Last year I had a bunch of screamer babies. I held back the best of the best (3.5 total) and every time I open their tubs (duh, every day) I am amazed at the colors staring back at me. I've seen a lot of BRB's in my day but this group from 2005 are absolutely stunning!! I can't wait till 2007/2008 to breed them.

I will keep you posted but please don't hold your breath. For the "special" ones I will hold onto for at least two or three sheds to let them color up and see what I really have before I decide what to do with them. The more I was looking at pics today the more I like, I see lots of pattern aberencies as well, linked saddles and zigzags etc. Which is kind of what the father has. I've been wanting to line breed him and see what he could do. Just waiting to raise up some of his daughters and see what they can produce. BTW, it is possible that he and Boo are related, they came from the same source, him in early 1994 as a holdback from 1993 and her in mid 1994 as a hatchling.

Sweet! That means that only 946,211 people have to pass on them before I get a shot..Ha ha ha ha!!

I don't blame you for wanting to hold onto those little gems.

Congrats on another great litter! I love those pics!

rainbowsrus Nov 07, 2006 03:49 PM

I have to admit I was getting more than a little bummed about my season. Coming off of last years highs, this year was quite a disappointment, at least prior to this last clutch. Now with all three females bred by Porky having litters and now with it looking like Lefty didn't pull his own weight, I do feel much better. Add to that all my "new" breeders coming on line this fall and watch out next year.

At least I ended up with enough babies to keep me busy selling them. I even ended up with some unique ones, the "ink spot" ones from my last litter. Will have to wait and see how they look as they shed and grow.

Last year gave me sooooo many babies and sooo many outstanding ones it was tough in it's own way, can't keep em all. Had some hard decisions which ones to let go. I've said it before and will say it again, one of the best "perks" of breeding you own animals is you get to keep anything you want.

BTW, this last clutch was offered food last night at 2 days old and every one of them ate. Of all the babies aI still have from this year only one did not eat last night. Pretty good feeding average for the week.
