Heating Questions in Large Sliding Glass

jswanson737 Nov 06, 2006 12:02 PM

Have a large melamine sliding glass door cage, large enough to house a couple 5' boas. Having problems figuring out how to heat one end of this cage, obviously the under tank heaters are useless, heat rocks are bad, and the ceramic heater at the top of the tank can burn these snakes. Any ideas? I appreciate the help!

I would do the ceramic heat. But I would use hardware cloth mesh to separate the snake from the element. Obviously you would have to keep the mesh far enough back so it would'nt heat up and burn your snake!
If you dont mind spending a little money, Helix has heat panels that send down radiant heat, and wont get hot enough to burn the snake. I was going to use these for my Jungle Carpets. They are real nice!
Here is their link:
www.helixcontrols.com/prod_radiant_heat_panels.htm
Prices start at $69.00
and top at $140.00
I have seen and touched these, and they looklike the answer to your problem!
