TURNING OF SPIKES??

Linda G Nov 06, 2006 12:41 PM

Hi all,

Do you happen to know what causes spikes to curve sideways?
Digits spikes are very long and have curved as a result.
Is it that they are so long or something
else maybe. Back in the spring at his check-up the vet
asked to double check his basking area temp. She reminded
me to check the temp at the top of his back instead of on
the shelf. She suggested that "too high" temps may be a
possibility so I lowered the wattage of the bulb and retested
at the top of his spikes, here is was was 90 degrees.

Thanks in advance
Linda

Do you have a picture of it? I'm not sure by what you mean by a turning of spikes. Most spikes du tend to curve, but maybe its something else. Try posting a picture.

Our iguana, Iggi, has curled spikes as well. We figured it was from her sleeping under a blanket every night. It does make for a tough time getting her old shed spikes off.
