About 2 months ago. I got an adult Black Ratsnake.
He preferrs to be stay cold.
If his temps are above 80 he will go sit in the water to cool off and stays on the cool side of the cage.

Hes always so cold to the touch when I handle him.

Is this something to worry about???

No.Your body is 98 degrees, his is room temp and will feel cold. Most of my snakes prefer the cooler side of there cage.As long as your snake feeds and poops your ok.

If lead paint is so deadly why do they make it so delicious?

If you are suggesting that at 80 degrees ambient temperature, you still supply extra heat to one side of the cage, I would suggest turning it off at around that temp (or even upper 70's). He sure doesn't need to be any warmer than 80, and seems to want to be a bit cooler. He will be fine, however, just about whatever you do. That's how black rats ARE. They're awesome?
