Does this only refer to the Pastel Jungle, or does it also refer to aberrant patterns on normal ball pythons? If this includes unsymmetrical patterns on normals, does anyone know if this is an inheritable trait? Just curious. Thanks!

The jungle ball python (aka- classic jungle) is a random mutation. It has yet to prove out to be genetic. I myself have two males that I will be breeding next winter. One male I picked up from my local Petco and the other I purchased from Camlon Reptiles. There are some key things to look for in a jungle. First will be some really bright yellows on a black background. The pattern will be very abberant. You'll also find some black speckling on their upper lip or it'll be full outlining. Lastly there'll be a prominent pale mark on top of their head. Some that i've seen do have a very pale mark on their heads while others seem to have some nice blushing rather than a solid mark. Here are pics of the two that i'll be working with. The one with the prominent spot on it's head was purchased from Camlon and the other from Petco. You can also check out the Snake Keeper's or Greg Graziani's site and find out more about the jungle ball pythons.

Thanks for your note. Is this considered a Classic Jungle?

The snake you're showing me looks more like a reduced pattern than a jungle. Reduced because of the lack of speckling within it's pattern, or the alien heads as many call them.

How'd you get my snake?? Lol. Gosh, the snake in the first pic of the two jungles looks EXACTLY like my bp, also a Petco purchase. I was wondering if there was anything going on as the coloring ans pattern is so different. I just took him to the vet today and he is a she--yay! Now I can breed her to my labyrinth male and see what becomes of it.

I swear I didn't take you snake. Or did I? haha
The male I got from petco I purchased back in june. When I first saw it i was hopeing it would turn out to be female. But then when they took it out for me, I popped it and it turned out to be a male. As you can see, I still brought him home with me. I was going to pair him up this winter but i'm putting in my pastel with the two large females I have and then have a het orange ghost as a back. So i'll be breeding the jungles next season.
