intoduction to new food a success

uri_grama Nov 07, 2006 01:36 PM

Hello all, Today I introduced Scooter to lentils. I put them through the coffee grinder (after much cleaning to remove coffee bean oils, we wouldn't want a caffeine junky uro). I was a little hesitant because Scooter is so young(12-13 weeks) but he went to them and licked up little pieces and chewed them right up. We'll see how he does. Also, Scooter has decided not to eat any leafy food that I dust with calcium or reptivite. Already with the attitude! Suggestions? Thanks

Glad the lentils are a success!!! Sometimes to get them to take their calcium and vitamins, you can put some on the bottom of the food bowl, then put in the food so only one side has it on it. It's worth a try. Good luck.

I was always told to be cautious with dry foods and baby Uros because they can get dehydrated easier and another thing to try with the supplement would be to mix it with bee pollen granules and then sprikle it on.

Thanks for the great ideas. I think you're right about the trial and error for babies. He didn't eat very much at all the next day and was not as active.I served only greens today and all seems to have returned to normal. I will reserve his lentils as a treat from now on. Perhaps a weekly treat of bee pollen and lentils mixed with some cal and vit's ,hmmmmmmmm, maybe a little trick? Thanks again guys
