Fl king Mutation History please...?

ZFelicien Nov 07, 2006 02:39 PM

Since reading the recent history of the axanthic Gene in Fl. and desert kings... it has me very curious about originators/ locations (what state these breeders were/are in) and the year Fl. king mutations were 1st hatched/discovered

Hypos. i know there are various "lines" of hypo so can any one tell me what they are (Krysko?, love?, Beard?, etc...?) what sets these apart other than originator do hey look different?

Axanthics. seems there are two different axanthic strains (lemke and NE compatible) and the "Anery" bhb strains

Lavenders, though they may be crosses i've seen them in KS books as the real deal so i would like to know a year of origin (Tim Ricks if you're out there please chime in)

T- Albinos also may be crosses but i would still liek to document the history... (Rainer)

PB i've read the history but never bother to document it (Rainer can you post it again)

WS i know the originator but what year were they hatched and whats the history (assumed/best knowledge)

what about who hatched out the 1st 2x HomoZ animals and the yr they were hatched

Snow

Ghost

Hybino

Axanthic WS

Hypo WS ( i know 2 breeders produced them this season... was this the 1st season they were produced?)

Thanx

To many questions for me to answer right now. I searched for the PB info but lost it with my computer crash. I will have to retype and search for the names..I will get back later tonight when I have time

In the mean time I hope that someone contacts JJL (Swampland reptiles aka Jejj LaCompte)) because he has some info that would help clear up some things on the axanthics.

Hey bluerosy, you gonna write it? I got a great idea, we get FR to write a chapter, Tim Ricks, all those guys I complimented with the “old timer” designation to each contribute and put it all together. Dedicate it to Lemke.
One of my inspirations was this collage on Kathy Loves Cornutopia site. It has all the real legends from the early days in South Florida. If you were from here it is priceless- even has L. E. Thompson who sold me my first diamondback and moccasin when I was a sixteen year old kid that just got my drivers license! I have dealt with twelve of these characters and there is no Doug Beard, Ryan Gittman or Ben Siegal pictured. I wish there were more things like this, be sure to put something like this together for your book! That’ll give you something to do this winter! You’ve been nominated.

I had visited her site many times and only recently found this thing she put together. Like I said, I wish there were more things like it.

But thanks very much for the compliment.

My literary skills are not what they should be to write a book. Besides i am more familiar with the west coast herpers than any of the east coast herpers.

I asked Brian Hubbs (auther of the new Mountain king book) about his writing skills and he said he would just read a magazine and pay attention to how the writer set up the whole story. Hubbs has some awesome skills. I think his books are going to go down in herpetoculture as one of the best alongside people like Carl Kaufeld. And Hubb's second book is not even finished yet.

I looked at that link you supplied. Those are some funny pics. Boy do some people change. I think that Bill Love probably changed the most.

Here are some '05 pics for comparison of Kevin Enge and Tom Crutchfield.

and here is one of Chris McQuades wife. I will never understand how guys like him end up with girls like dat.

Rainer,
you might not want to write the book but you could make a nice collage of all the breeders you have pictures of.

I had my first ghost hatch out in 2000, Doug Beard and BHB were successful ahead of me.
As far as the WS hypos, I think this was the first year for anyone to hatch them out. I talked to a couple of "big" breeders and they did not produce any yet. No matter what you're working with its fun when a little guy can get in something new first or near first.

ZFelicien Nov 08, 2006 01:25 PM

i gotta agree with you there that it is nice when the "lil guy" does it 1st...

so i guess you and BHB are head to Head with producing the WS Hypo this year

Thanx

Would love to see em!

Upscale Nov 09, 2006 10:05 PM

I will try to take one soon. Mine has just shed so now would be good. This working for a living is severely cutting into my kingsnake time. Dang it. Did you ever get a follow up on the ws x snow? I think the whiteside will look good with a pink or lavender pattern down the back. Or that bright orange hypo Goini Brooks you are working with! I will be requesting more pictures of that project every couple of months, just warning you.
