Well, I finally got my male Cali-King to eat! He literally stuffed himself! I purchased 2 live small pinkies, and he ate them both IMMEDIATELY, without even thinking about it, was was sniffing around for more!
The female took her time with the fuzzy I gave her, and I'm not sure why, but finally nearly 2 days after I dropped the fuzzy in, she finally devoured it. She and her counterpart are the same age, but she's quite a bit longer and bigger.
I was worried about the male, because he hadn't eaten anything presented for two weeks. I think he was testing me, or else the trip from California really stressed them both. Even so, the female ate two days after she got here, a frozen fuzzy, and I thought I wasn't going to have any difficulty, but they don't seem to want anything frozen that I buy from the local animal store (they carry frozen mice, but they are not vacuum packed, and that might make the difference).
So, I purchased a couple of mice, and housed them in nice cages and put them in our barn in a spot where other animals won't get to them, and bred the female. We'll see if she has a brood. If not, then I'll buy another female in a short while and breed her as well.
Anybody know where to buy those special boxes to put feeder mice? It has a top with a "V" in it made of wire, and you can put food in the top section, and they eat it down, but you don't have to open the cage to feed and water them?
