Meal Worm Beatles?

legalizefreedom Nov 08, 2006 07:17 PM

Some of my meal worms turned into weird Alien Fetus things of a white color. I checked in there tank and some of them turned into small redish colored beatles. Are the beatles safe to feed to my 2 year old beardie and how can I get the beatles to breed and make more, free, meal worms. Also, how hard are horn worms to breed and grow?

Hi there,

They look evil don't they?(TIP: When they turn into aliens, put them in a different tub to the worms as they tend to eat them)

It is safe to feed the beetles. But feed them when they're red as their shells are softer and easier to digest.

To get them to make more mealies, leave the beetles in a container of their own with a godd couple of inches of substrate. The beetles will burrow into the substrate and lay their eggs in the bottom.

Not sure on the horn worms though.

Hope that helps.

If not, google 'mealworm caresheet'
