Baby Suboc

MikeMurphy Nov 08, 2006 08:13 PM

Wow, I haven't been to this site for a couple of weeks (crazy busy) and I see I have a lot of catching up to do. Well, it will have to wait until Lost is over

In the meantime, here's a picture of a new baby suboc that just hatched today. She came out of a lone surviving egg. The female laid 7 eggs, only two looked good and one went bad after about 10 days. This one took 73 days to hatch and was incubated at 81-85 degrees F, average was probably about 82 degrees. I checked this egg on Sunday and it didn't look any different than it has for the last several weeks; no dimpling or anything. This morning there were slits and when I got home tonight this baby was out.

The mother is a "greenish" blonde phase (third photo below) and the male is an "orangish" blonde phase.

I still have 16 suboc eggs left from another female. They all look perfect. Can't wait till those hatch.
Enjoy!
Mike

Mike,

She is beautiful! A lot of neat looking color on her too. Good luck with her and with the rest of those eggs!

Awesome animal.
Just amazing.
Do you use gravel as the substrate for Subocs?

Hey Bill:
No, that was just a little setup for the photo. I actually keep all of my snakes on aspen. I've never had a problem with it and it's cheap and clean!
