What temps do you bake wood??

dragonlady1954 Aug 07, 2003 08:33 AM

I read in a post a while back how you could bake drift wood etc in your oven to kill all the parasites but I can't remember if it was 200 degrees for 3 hours or 300 degrees for 2 hours or what it was. Can anyone here help me out!!! Thanks Sharon

Baking just for 20 minutes on 300 should kill anything inside the wood. You could also soak it in bleach and water for a while, but be sure to soak in back in regular clean water after to get the bleach out. That should kill any germs though.

Bleach to water ratio should be 1 cup bleach per gallon of hot water.
