rescue number eight

yup. ANOTHER one. Tiny as heck, we named this one Sprite before we got to the car with her...I don't even understand how Petco can sell leos this young, I would be SHOCKED if this one was more than two weeks out from the egg! She was a freebie... they couldn't get her to eat, and she was getting bullied by the MUCH larger leos in the tanks. Oddly enough *inject heavy sarcasm here* she's eating just fine for me, and is already calm in-hand.

How exactly do you go about rescueing the geckos? Do you buy them, or do they just let you adopt them out? My Petco has them in horrid conditions, and there are two VERY tiny ones with their tails missing that I could take.

If they've dropped their tails, even just part, Petco isn't SUPPOSED to sell them, they are supposed to adopt them out. If you speak with a manager about the leos they should let you take them for free. That's what I do with all of mine, I've actually given the store managers in my area my name and number, and they call me whenever they have a leo that they can't sell for whatever reason.

Sick, thanks for the information. What if they do sell a tail-less gecko?

Yeah, all my petco babies were pretty tiny when I got them. Fortunately, they weren't surrounded by bigger leos.

Good luck with the new one! They're so cute when they're that small.

WOW-are you sure that is is overall company policy for them ?
I have bought quite a few Leos from there over the years with dropped tails and I was always charged full price for the
the last time that I was there-for my birthday-I picked out 3 tiny babies(I always feel sorry for the ones with no tails in with all of the others) with no tails and yup-I paid full price for all 3 of them
If they are not supposed to sell the animals with dropped tails they why did they always sell them to me and charge me full price?
Anyway- good Luck with her-she's a real sweetie
