well, i went to the northern berks herp show in hamburg, pa and met up with tina from geckoville and purchased a male mali from her.(i have the pic in a lower post but he is more yellow becuase he is shedding in the pic). i wasnt able to take him home to his permanent cage that same day which kind of worried me at first. i was staying with my dad that weekend so i took a tank about 3ft long by 1.5 feet wide with me and then some other tanks. i had my female in the tank with her basking lights on, temp 115. i had her on paper towels temporarily nad there was 2 food dishes and a cave and then another hide of rocks. (my normal cage has 3 hides). when i introduced the male it was wonderful. he sat there just kind of looking around and she walked over to him and they just kept licking each other. for like a half hour. then he went to walk away and my female followed him. they actually took turns being interested and following each other. then he would go over and put his "hand" on her back and she would waver her corresponding arm....this was all on the first day mind you, and they were both in a temp cage. he also did a quite odd thing, he would open his mouth and make his throat move very rapidly. he did it several times and she only did it twice... this was a behavior i had never witnessed be4 in her. they would also stand the same way and tilt their heads the same way at the same time mimicking each other. he also ate on the FIRST day!! i was sooo happy about that.and even with all the hides they had they always slept in the same one.... odd little guys. another thing i noticed was that she would keep putting her head up really high and then he would do it too. lol i dont think im gonna have a problem breeding these 2! im going to wait a bit and then brumate them using the schedule on deer fern farms's website. what do you guys think?
ps. they are still doing great now that they are back to the permanent cage... complete with sand... not that icky paper lol.
and i wanted to thank tina for getting me such a great lil guy...my artemis(f) luvs him!!
