What type of glass???

hedo Nov 09, 2006 02:21 PM

I am building custom cages with sliding glass doors for retics and burms but I am not sure what type of glass to get. Does it need to be tempered or will any type of glass do. I plan on using 1/4" glass and what can I expect to pay of a sheet of 1/4" glass 16"x32"? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

thanks
josh

In any cage where you risk serious snake strikes, I use laminated or "safety glass". I use it in all my snake cages even if they are docile, you just never know.

I'd probobly go with the saftey glass also. You could also see about getting the glass with the chicken wire in it. It stays together even if it breaks.
I'd guess 20 bucks for a piece that size of just regular glass, I have no idea for anything else.

At the very least tempered glass is better than plain glass (more tolerant of temperature extremes, harder to break, and if it breaks, breaks into little cubes and not long sharp pieces).

Though laminated safety is the best choice.
