Who to breed?

ReptilesRampant Nov 09, 2006 02:31 PM

All right, I am planning on breeding my normal het anery female to my male anery again. Becky, the amel stripe is also at breeding size and age, but I don't know who to breed her to. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices: either the same anery as my other female or my new bloodred yearling. He has been quarantined for 2 months now and doesn't seem to have any problems yet, but he will only be 2 years old when the time comes... What do you think? I am leaning toward the blood, because I REALLY want blood morphs, especially stripes, and this would be a great place to start, but the parents don't like the idea of a litter of all normals. So, I would really appreciate your opinions and reasons if you have any.

Thanks

Well,Either way you go, you are going to get normal looking clutches, triple het for either amel/blood stripe,(they are being called fire corns by most),or snow stripes.I personally would go with the blood, but thats just me it really depends on what you like the most.

The anery male is also het amel, so if I bred her to him I would get half amels in the litter; but yeah, I still think the blood would be a better choice. Thanks

I'd breed the bloodred to her. Normals het for amel blood stripe (fire stripe) aren't all THAT common that you'd have problems getting rid of any babies you don't hold back for your own project

bit off topic: "Fire" is a trade name for amel bloods, and while there is no "official" acceptance of it I just think it sounds cool and an apt description
