Do males go in with females or.....

This is my first year breeding and I wanted to know, do you all put the male in with the female or do you put the female in with the male? Is one way prefered or does it even matter?

I do males into where the females are - others prefer to put the females in with males -- some boys will breed better in their own tub - others it doesn't matter - I seem to have the ones that don't care.
