My hands too purple? LOL

BeginnersBasics Aug 07, 2003 09:20 AM

All I did to these pictures is the "auto contrast" option in my editing software. Does it make my hands look to "fake" like I actually did more to these pictures?

I don't like to edit pictures of my babies, but they turned out so dark and the color of the dragons themselves look VERY close to what they actually are... I am just wondering about the hand color...

Thanks

Oh, I updated my site and raised the prices

Are you using the flash? When I take mine indoors I still use the flash, and put the camera on macro mode. If I don't put it to macro mode it comes out real blurry for some reason. I usually take them indoors with an over head light on and still use the flash, and they come out descent without adjusting anything. Those did come out kinda red. Maybe you can take the pics without the hand in there if your having trouble with the camera. I know the first thing I did when I decided I would start to breed was go out and buy a good camera. Really valuable if your going to be selling from a pic over the internet. The one I had before was making the dragons look to red, and my hand looked normal. I didn't want anybody to get the wrong idea, and be upset when the dragon they got was orange.

Thanks for the opinion and no I wasn't using the flash because it washed out the colors and they blurred. I did buy a better camera, but it seems my old one I gave to my son actually took better pictures...... So basically my hands DO look all wrong? LOL

If I don't use the macro mode it comes blurry with the flash and better without. Try the macro mode if you camera has it with the flash on. On my camera it is the symbol of the flower. I set it to the marcro or the (flower) and use the flash. Give it a shot it might work with your camera too if yours has that setting.

Those are better then the last ones with the hand. I guess if your having a problem getting the pic right that's the best way to go. Just the dragons themselves. Atleast you know if it looks correct. With the funny hand, other people might get ideas, like it was fixed even if the dragons look correct. You know it's correct but the customer does not.

I do mine indoor with a flash too. I take it in a room where there isn't too much sun. With too much sun in the room it can wash them out or brighten them to an unrealistic color. I don't have to edit the pictures at all. I try to keep my hands out of the pictures because hands tend to look red...LOL, not purple though. I agree with Matt that a good digital with a Macro mode is important. I have a Pentax Otio 330GS. Got it on the internet for about $269.00. I really like it. I won't have babies until next year but I figured if I got the camera now I'd know how to use it by then. Good luck &
Take care,
Karen P.S. I use a flash too.

Yeah, Candy is one of my favorites too. She was a real surprise too. She is a Snow X red/orange, so I figured she would have some light color and a pattern to her. Well, can't judge them by baby pics that's for sure. She turned from a pinkish white witch I thought was awsome to begin with into a rich almost pastelish orange, red with a real muted pattern almost gone when she she's warmed up. She gets a real light grey pattern at night when she's cold. I just love her. Some of her scales are actually two tone. At the base of the scale it's a redish color and towards the point it turns orange. Real neat. Her beard when you see her in person is just amazing. Glad you like her. I'm shooting for her and Foster to breed next season. I hope she lets Foster do his thing. I know Foster will mate with her, he has tried before, but I split them up. Thanks for the compliment.

Your still having trouble? It's not any better the way I told you about? Weird yours is actually a step up from my camera. I just use normal lighting with it on auto, put it on macro, with the flash on, and zoom in a bit and they come descent just like that. Sorry it's not working for you. The pics you posted second were not bad.

try putting the dragons on a white background. It helps the back light feature work best on the camera. It's much more accurate than having a basking light in the back ground or anything that can make a shine from the flash.
