Am I Really This Unlucky!?

reptilicus81 Nov 09, 2006 10:05 PM

I have two females that are about 400-500 grams. Both were probed/popped by other breeders, by myself, and by the people I bought them from. One of the bins in the rack broke, and so I put one of the above females in with a comparable sized female and this is what I saw:

I've never heard of two females doing this, if one is a male...ok, but the other one is too small to breed, so what is stimulating this behavior? Are they both males!? ARG! I've had bad luck...but SERIOUSLY!

Well I guess I should have done this before the post...but I had a 14 hour work day today and am exhausted! I probed both snakes female. I then popped them both (which I almost never do in snakes over hatchling size, but decided I must!)....the one doing the courting is a male after all! BAD LUCK! I've never had a male. Now for my next question....Why is a 500 gram female allowing him to mate? I separated them, but GEEZ!

He has such a neat look to him too...especially his belly stripe! Now I have one more male to rehome! I try to use extra males for educational shows...but 6 extras is a bit much!
