Gopher vs. Bull?

jswanson737 Nov 10, 2006 11:05 AM

Curious to know what the defining traits would be for a standard Bull Snake vs. a Gopher Snake, more the Sonoran Gopher Snake, I have noticed some subtle differences in the patterns, but didn't know if there were more defining differences than that. I guess I have troubles when I see one, determining if it is a Sonoran Gopher, or a Bull Snake. Thanks.

Bulls normally get significantly larger.

Bullsnakes have rostral scale that is higher than wide, like a pine snake. Gophers have a rostral that is more like a triangle with 3 equal sides.
