dnreptiles Nov 10, 2006 01:17 PM

For those of you who ship delta dash, do you have to have a store front in order for them to come out or can anyone be set up? Thank!

I am a verified shipper with Delta and I have no store front. They do come out and do an "inspection" but that's about it.

Did you have to fill out a form online first?

Good luck. Basically, Delta doesn't pay anybody to come do the "Inspection" anymore. One of Deltas insurance companies or underwriters used to pay employees for doing these inspections, but that ceased sometime after September 11th. Therefore, it makes it hard to try to convince someone to come and get you varified when it's coming out of thier pocket to do so. I live in Florida; I would have to have someone come out from Orlando, drive the hour, hour and a half to get to me and spend the time to do the inspection. Meanwhile, they are not getting compensated in anyway, and it's usually done on the employee's day off. Everybody that was lucky enough to get varified before September 11th should be counting thier blessings. Everybody else, well, I guess find a sympathetic Delta employee or your SOL as I have been since 2003

Thanks. I am not very far from my airport at all. On the form on line it says there maybe a $50 fee. I guess ill have to wait and see. Do you HAVE to be verified to ship reptiles?

I'm not far from my Delta Hub either, I live about 15 minutes away. However, the guys that are "trained" to do the inspections come from the regional Hub, which is a hour or so away. Matter of fact, I'm not even sure they have any more of these "trained" employees since its been so long since they've stopped doing the inspections; At least in my case that is. Don't believe anything the 800 number or the website says, get it striaght from whoever manages the regional hub. Once you talk to someone who is in touch with whats going on, you'll usually find customer service has fed you a bunch of BS.

It seems like it has gotten alot harder since I got varified. I DID get varified AFTER 9/11, but I have heard that it is not easy, especially in the Boston and NY areas. If I was you, I might play it dumb, and go down to the Delta Cargo office to ship, and see if they let you. If they do not, talk to the guy in charge, and see what HE or SHE wants you to do. I agree that every person you talk to at an 800 number will tell you something completely different than the last, and it will get frustrating.

I dont know what the big deal is about needing to be verified can someone explain it to me? I mean I have been to the Delta hub here in Columbus Ohio on at least 10 occasions to ship and all I do is fill out the paperwork and pay for the shipping there or mark it as COD. But that may just be here. Thanks

I'm Delta verified, but I much prefer FedEx. So far, I have not had any issues and the service is great.
