Possible retianed eyecap

bsharrah Nov 10, 2006 03:25 PM

Just received a 2 month old ATB today and after I unpacked it, I noticed that one of its eyes was slightly swollen and discolored (cloudy). Although I never seen a retained eye cap, I am guessing that is the problem. According to the data card, it last shed on 10-25-06 so it has been this way for a couple weeks.

Anyone have this problem before? I did a little research and many sites that discuss this state that after some time, the old cap joins with the new, living cap, making removal very difficult. Most of the sites suggest leaving it go until the next shed, and seeking a vet if it doesn't come off with the next shed.

Looking for suggestions from those who have dealt with this before.

Thanks,
Bart

Took some pics of the eyes. Any feedback is highly appreciated.
