Do spiders enjoy handling?

SPJ01 Nov 11, 2006 09:34 AM

I know this sounds weird but I swear my spider actually wants to be handled and interact with me. She will crawl right over to be picked up. None of my other BP's ever act this way. She just seems to actually enjoy getting out and interacting.
Anyone else have a spider that is so personable?

Do not mistake "wanting to get out of their cage" with affection.

Where did you read the word affection? I believe the poster used the word interaction, which is a LONG way away from affection. My male spider is very curious and seems to always want to come out of his bin and check out whats going on around the snake room. My mojave male also seems to enjoying 'interactiving'. I have some other ball pythons that never seem to want to leave their bins.

It's hard to explain what was referring to but I'll try again. I didn't mean that the snake was all cuddly like a dog or cat but that it actually enjoyed being out and seeing what was going on and did not appear to mind me picking it up. She acts like she knows when I go to get her, that it means she gets time outside the cage. My others will just sit there and not move until you actually pick them up and take them out.
She also feeds on f/t put in front of her hide so I don't think it's a matter of her coming out of the hide and going across the cage looking for food.
It just seems that this one has more of a personality than my others and is more outgoing.

Most snakes spend a good portion of their waking hours looking for a way out of their enclosure. So, when you open their enclosure while they are nosing around for a way out, bingo, they "found" a way out. Also, sometimes if they are not at their optimum temp., they view your hand or arm as a hot spot.

What do you know about Spiders, you act like you founded the morph or something...

DARK LORD.....

I had to add a little head wobble for cuteness and for some people to complain about!!

Without a doubt they seem to have an added personality to them even though they may seem a bit goofy to others.

My all time favorite EVIL mutation!

Kevin, in all seriousness, I was REALLY late getting into the Spider morph, but now that I finally got one, WOW! The one I got is from EBN, high yellow green overall color, nice white and orange on the sides, great looking snake. I never really appriciated what they were until I got one, and could really look her over. I am hooked man!

In my humble opinion.
