Morphs, striped, difficult to obtain?

FireTalon Nov 11, 2006 11:12 AM

I was looking around on the internet and I came across a striped morph (jungle variation)on a UK site, but I have yet to fins one that I can purchase, are these a rare type of morph or am I just being stupid just because their are not any around at the moment? I am DESPERATE for one! Thanks

They are only worth a little more than a normal, so a lot of people don't waste time advertising them on websites. You could check crestedgecko.com, they don't advertise them individually but if you were to order one they could pick out a nice full strip if you let them know that is what you want. Offering to pay a little more might help too.

Do they ship then? I imagine that it wouldn't be a nice journey for a gecko from the US to the UK, but thanks

Nope, they do not have any that I would be interested in but thanks anyway I am looking for a nice stripy one (not a yellow one though),I have found a normal multihet that is a bit stripy, but I dont know if it will keep those stripes So I think that I'm playing a 'wait and see' game at the moment, cross my fingers!

Could you direct us (me) to the pic of the one you like, but isn't for sale? I'm a bit confused about what you are looking for, since I assumed something completely different when you asked for a "striped" gecko. Thanks.

Ahh... now I understand. Thanks for the info, I was thinking you wanted a back stripe or a strange jungle strain... you want something much easier to find...

Those are very common, but the problem is they are not as sought after or as profitable. A breeder will get them as a matter of course in their breeding program and sell them to pet stores or keep them as stock instead of posting it on a website. Website space will usually go to more profitable patterns. I don't breed leos, so some of this is second hand.

A ways down in this forum we all had a huge discussion whether the chocolate colored albino version of what you post is a bell or a tremper. The leo that lives with use currently is such a creature and they are not too hard to find; I think she is quite beautiful. Good luck!

Those are just normal banded Leo's. They start out with dark black bands that slowly fade as they age. As adults they tend to be yellow with dark spots, and only traces of where the bands once were.

Here are pics of a normal banded Leo as a baby and then as an adult. The picture you posted is pretty much what he looked like as a juvie. I hope this helps in your decision.
