What a beauty! Great color on the carapice. It the dark section new growth? Does it stay dark like that or eventually lighten up?

SteveH Nov 11, 2006 03:32 PM

thanks, the dark sections are new growth that lightens up as it grows. the shell on this turtle will either stay yellow or turn white( i guess ). Steve

Hey Steve,

Nice looking snapper. I love the gold shells.

Thanks VS, I think the golden shell snappers are cool too. I wish they would eat something other than fish right now though. I'd like to see what a color enhancement pellet food would do for them.

I can't get either of my 2 Allys to eat anything but fish with an occasional crayfish. I drop some Reptotreat Suprema in the tank every other day to try and get them to develop a taste for it but I have never seen them eat it.

I've had a few that would eat everthing, pellets, can corn and other vegetables, chicken parts, beef, etc. Maybe when they get bigger they'll start eating other things.

Very nice! Where do you pick up your color morph ASTs?

i have a normal one. its been about a year.how big should they be if i have had it as a baby, and feed it regularly , heat, uv, and calcium and vit.

probably 4 to 6". they grow at different rates. keeping them warm through the winter will put more size on them, but at some point its better to let them cool off for the winter. maybe their 2nd or 3rd year.
