Homemade Incubator Question...

SnakeSmith Nov 11, 2006 04:45 PM

Why is it recommended to have fans connected to a thermostat in a homemade incubator? When the therm. is off, would'nt any pockets of excess heat or residual heat still being given off by the heat source (before it cools) rise and keep the area near the top warmer than the bottom? I would think it would be better to have the fans run continuously.
Just doing a little brainstorming before I build a new one!

Thanks,
Glenn

I'm don't know who recommended that the fans be connected to the thermostat, but I strongly disagree. We built our own incubator last season and set it up with the fans running full time. We had zero problems and 100% hatch rate. Good luck with yours.
