Ball hasn't eaten for two months...help

kostik Nov 11, 2006 10:40 PM

Hi I have had a ball python since last october. He is about 1.5 years old. He has been eating f/t rats. He has always been kind of a finicky eater and I had to warm up the rats before I give them to him. Now he has not eaten in the last two months. He is active at night, crawls around his enclosure from one hide spot to another, doesn't seem to be weak or diseased. When I offer him food, he crawls out, sniffs around, then goes back in his hide spot. I left rats out for him overnight but to no avail. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Thanks

He sounds like he has lovin', not eatin' on his mind. I would offer him food perhaps once a month. Be prepared for a long fast. And don't worry if he appears otherwise healthy.

That is reassuring, even though I thought he still might be a little too young and too small for mating...
