i keep a wc pair, each one on a 5" X 3" rubber maid container, with a hide box, a piece of bark and a water container.

They are temporary there,i will change it together to a 10 gallon container, they are new to me, only 3 months, they are fine eating 1 medium to big f/t brown anole (anolis nebulosus) each 7 days (some times the bigger one, eat two).

Mike Helmz is keeping one eating scented pinkies, he told me he will switch it to unscented pinkies (i will not, i can get more easy lizards, and frogs than pinkies (i live in Mexico).

they are so beuty, small and nice pets if you have lizards or frogs available, unless is switched to pinkies.

about reproduction, i dont know nothing, i guess they will mate after winter... does any body has more reproductive info???

i will post pics of them soon, maybe on this week.

My take on texas night snakes...

do they make good pets?

Yes or no. Some of the ones I had did not mind being held. Others are squirmy. They don't bite. Mine never musked. Pretty much if you can get over the squirming, yes.

What prey items do you have access to? Night snakes don't usually take mice from the start. They prey on lizards, snakes and frogs in the wild. I currently have 1 in hibernation... But before that it was eating an anole scented pinky every 10 days like clockwork, but failed to simply switch over to unscented.

how to cage them?

There many ways to cage them. I've kept them in rubbermaid containers with newspaper and a water bowl.... plastic bowls with aspen. Right now I have one in a plastic deli cup with a napkin.

how easy are they to breed?

Good question. Maybe I'll find out in the Spring.

With access to anoles you could probably keep them...

A 10 gallon can house a pair easily.

I have no pics of mine right now.
