Diet question

RobertIIII Nov 12, 2006 09:10 PM

So I Was looking on deer fern farms to figure out what would be a good daily mix of greens and veggies and etc. Well why it gave me some ideas, I was curious to see what other people feed their uro's daily. Also what supplements should I use and how often. I do not have a uro yet, just doing my research before I get one. Thanks for any help

Surprised your post hasn't been responded to so I'll step up to the plate with my tired old advice.
We've kept multiple species of Uros over almost 10 years and definitely don't consider ourselves "experienced." My experience is with snakes for some 40 years & I still feel that I'm a novice.
What I can tell you is what's worked very well for us. In the spring & summer we really up the flowers (Dandelion, Nasturtiums, Mallow & Hibiscus) as they seem to be wildest about them then. Then along with the leafy greens ( Mustards, Turnips, Kale, Endive, Bok Choy ). We add Collards occasionally, as we do clover, bean sprouts, Romaine for moisture & a few other odds & ends, such as green peas.
Always there is a "seed bowl." There is no end to what you need to add to it but check the care sheets first. Parakeet food is a big favorite.
Two things we practically never offer; fruits or insects.
Hope this helps in some way!
