That was a cool show...my first. Was that considered a "big" show or average, on a national scale?

xblackheart Nov 12, 2006 10:37 PM

that show was about half the size of the sacramento show. Both shows are put together by the same person. Upscale reptiles.
It was still a pretty cool show. I spent tons of money!!!

I still haven't made it to the Sac show, but Anaheim was a lot bigger. It's a start though!

I love those Night Snakes! I must have missed them on Saturday. I did find lots of stuff I like though, but was good and only came home with a book. I had a blast browsing Gregg and Joni's table though.

DK Reptiles was selling some of the night snakes. He had the parents for sale (my male is from the parents that were for sale and is het Anery). My female night snake, I got from East Bay Vivarium. Their babies were from parents that were bought from DK reptiles. So, my babies could be related to each other. Hopefully my female is het for anery as well. That would be great.

I really love the pattern on the first female ball you have. How big is she?

xblackheart Nov 14, 2006 12:07 PM

you know, I have not measured her. I'd say like two feet. She is about a year to two. I bought the pair from LLL reptile. The guy said she'd be breeding age and size in a year.

1200 grams is the magic number for females. Good luck!!

hey, thanks for the info. Looks like I will have to get a bigger scale!! I also have to do some research on Ball python breeding.
Thanks again

its not too bad. The book just put out by Kevin from NERD (New England Reptile Distributors)is the newest and best to come out on Ball breeding. Just don't get discouraged when they go off feed sometimes. I have 6 balls now and they all go through periods of 3-5 weeks through out the year when they refuse food, it's normal for them. I'll be producing 50% het albinos this year.

xblackheart Nov 15, 2006 01:39 PM

thats cool. I have owned a few balls before, but never to breed. There was one normal ball at the show that was 100% het for pie bald, but you'd need two to get any results and I was not willing to pay almost $300 per ball python het for piebald. The people in my area are not into the high end stuff anyway. They seem to want the normal corns, and plain old cheap ball pythons! lol.

Those nightsnakes are F-I-N-E, I've been debating getting a pair for several years.

thanks! They were a last minute thing. I got them on the way out. I actually got that pair instead of a hypo lavender corn! It was a tough call, but I have a pair of lavenders now and figure I can make my own hypo lavenders in 6 years or so! lol.
